Why This Sermon?

I was in the room when this sermon was preached and I’ve never forgotten how confident this sermon made me feel in regards to my faith and being a Christian. As my time in Nashville concluded before I moved to Franklin & started Good Grain Creative, I attended Immanuel Nashville, and to this day believe that it has some of the most intellectually and soul-stirring sermons on a consistent basis. Ray Ortland, the founding pastor is a living legend, TJ Tims, the current lead pastor is unquestionably sincere and caring, and Sam Allberry the speaker in this particular sermon is one of the best informed and convincing Christians we have in modern times. Sam Allberry stands as a thesis for what modern Christianity can and should look like and the kind of people Christianity hopes to win to its corner. I’ll bet that Mr. Allberry would tell you he’s not perfect in all sincerity, but the truth is, if you look at his biography, the books he’s written, and how he is a credible author for the works he has penned, you will see that this sermon, along with the rest of his work stands as a thesis, a blueprint of the transformative power of Christ, in our modern times.
